Happy Birthday McKenzie!

Somebody turned 1 on Friday! There are a million things to say, a million feelings to write and so much to think about. I thought I might write about how I feel about this precious child, how the year of her life has affected me. I think at some point, it needs to be said but for today, I think I will just say


Happy Birthday McKenzie Brooke!

I love this photo of my sister. She's trying to keep herself composed after she opened the gift I got for McKenzie's birthday. It was a collage of all the little moments in Kenzie's first year and underneath the pictures it just simply says "miracle". The thing is, when you have a child who isn't supposed to live, nothing is little.

Amy even came by for a visit, which was awesome. She had the touch that night and McKenzie was content to just sleep the evening away. Maddie & Allie even got to open the presents since McKenzie was sleeping :)

I love you McKenzie, to the moon and back, and back to the moon again. I'm so thankful to be your aunt. At some point I will write more about what this year has been like, about how I can look back on the months before you were born and see how we were being prepared for you. You amaze me constantly. I don't know why I was chosen to have a very special nephew and a very special niece and then two more wonderful nieces. My life if filled to the fullest with you four. I love you!
